Vision for All: Free Eye Checkups & Cataract Surgeries

Vision is one of the most important senses, yet millions of people in rural areas suffer from avoidable blindness due to lack of awareness, financial constraints, and unavailability of medical facilities. Among them, cataracts remain one of the leading causes of blindness, which can be easily treated through surgery.

At PMABHC Society, we strongly believe that everyone deserves the gift of clear vision, regardless of their economic background. That’s why we regularly organize free eye checkup camps and cataract surgery programs for the underprivileged in areas like Mugbasan, Keshpur, and surrounding villages. Through these initiatives, we identify, treat, and restore the eyesight of those who would otherwise continue living in darkness.

The Problem: Why Eye Care is a Necessity

In rural and underprivileged communities, eye diseases often go untreated due to:

✔️ Lack of Awareness – Many people do not realize that their poor vision can be corrected with simple treatments.
✔️ Financial Constraints – Eye checkups, glasses, and surgeries are expensive for low-income families.
✔️ Limited Access to Eye Specialists – Many villages lack proper eye care facilities, forcing people to live with deteriorating vision.
✔️ Fear & Myths – Many elderly individuals avoid eye surgeries due to superstitions and misinformation.

To bridge this gap, PMABHC Society has taken a step forward to provide free and accessible eye care to those in need.

Our Free Eye Checkup & Cataract Surgery Program

We organize regular eye camps in different rural areas, providing:

1. Free Eye Checkups & Consultation 👁️

👨‍⚕️ Experienced eye specialists and ophthalmologists conduct comprehensive eye screenings to detect issues like:
✅ Cataracts
✅ Glaucoma
✅ Refractive errors (needing spectacles)
✅ Eye infections
✅ Other vision problems

Impact: Many individuals who had never consulted an eye doctor before have been diagnosed and treated in our camps.

2. Free Spectacles for the Needy 🕶️

Many people, especially the elderly and school-going children, struggle with blurry vision because they cannot afford glasses. At our camps, we provide:
✅ Free prescription glasses for those with weak eyesight
✅ Counseling on how to take care of eye health and hygiene
✅ Guidance on protecting eyes from UV rays and infections

Impact: Several elderly individuals and students have regained better vision, improving their daily lives and academic performance.

3. Free Cataract Surgery for Patients in Need 🔬

One of the biggest reasons for blindness among the elderly is cataracts. However, many cannot afford the surgery needed to restore vision. To help, we:

✅ Identify cataract patients during our eye checkup camps
✅ Provide free transportation to the hospital for surgery
✅ Arrange completely free cataract surgeries for those in need
✅ Offer post-surgery care, including medicines and follow-up checkups

💡 Why Cataract Surgery Matters?
Cataracts develop gradually, making vision cloudy or completely blind over time. Through a simple surgery, the clouded lens is replaced, restoring full eyesight within a few days!

Impact: Hundreds of individuals who were struggling with blindness are now able to see clearly and live independently again.
