Many villagers suffer from poor vision, cataracts, and other eye-related issues, but they lack the resources for regular checkups. This eye checkup and spectacle distribution camp aimed to detect vision problems early and provide free spectacles to those in need.
Event Highlights:
👁️ Free eye checkups by professional optometrists – Specialists conducted visual acuity tests, screened for cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive errors, and provided expert guidance on maintaining eye health.
👓 100+ free spectacles were distributed – People with diagnosed vision problems, including myopia, hypermetropia, and presbyopia, received customized eyeglasses based on their prescription.
🩺 Referral for severe cases – Individuals diagnosed with advanced cataracts, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy were referred to hospitals in Medinipur for further treatment.
📢 Awareness session on eye health – Experts explained:
- How excessive screen time affects the eyes and tips for reducing strain.
- Nutritional guidelines to improve eyesight, such as consuming Vitamin A-rich foods like carrots and green vegetables.
- Early signs of cataracts and glaucoma and the importance of early detection.
Impact:
More than 200+ people attended, and 100+ received free spectacles, improving their daily activities and quality of life.
